Syracuse, N.Y. — Steve Angeli got off to a good start against Connecticut. He completed 10 of his first 13 passes and led Syracuse inside UConn’s 10-yard line twice.
Then, Huskies safety Tyrece Mills produced a strip-sack and things went downhill for the Orange’s new quarterback.
Angeli completed just 11 of his next 25 pass attempts, and tossed an interception, after losing the fumble. The Orange fell behind UConn, 17-6. Some fans booed; some headed for the exits; and others called for backup Rickie Collins Jr. to enter the game.
Still, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown stuck with his guy.
“I just said, ‘You gotta have fun,’ ” Brown said after the game. “ ‘Stop playing like I played in high school. Have fun.’ What were you going to really do with a quarterback when he’s done having a roug
