PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A key vote will be taken on Tuesday that will likely determine whether a 5,000-seat amphitheater will be built on Peoria’s riverfront.
On Tuesday evening’s city council agenda is a letter of intent from Jim Hengst, who runs the non-profit Hengst Foundation that’s dedicated to promoting the arts.
The Hengst Foundation is the same organization that withdrew a letter of intent to build the venue in Washington after some city leaders there said they had some unanswered questions about the proposal.
If Peoria’s council approves, the foundation would donate up to $11 million for the amphitheater, compared to a $12 million donation that was offered to Washington.
