Charles Woods appeared to be trending in the right direction.

The Patriots ’ newly-acquired cornerback was a limited participant on Wednesday’s injury report, but upgraded to a full participant on Thursday and Friday.

But on Saturday, the pendulum swung the other way and the Patriots ruled him out for Sunday’s opener against the Raiders at Gillette Stadium.

Woods joins Christian Gonzalez as the two Patriots who have been ruled out of the Week 1 game.
