On the Sooners’ first drive of the game, John Mateer connected with Deion Burks for the 9-yard touchdown reception to give OU an early 7-0 lead.
Michigan had its first offensive drive stalled at midfield, and the Wolverines were forced to punt.
Mateer overthrew his receiver late in the first quarter, and Michigan’s TJ Metcalf picked it off for the game’s first turnover.
Wolverines had the following drive stalled to start the second quarter, still down 7-0. Both teams exchanged punts, and Michigan put together a good drive, but Wolverines’ kicker Dominic Zvada missed a 32-yard field goal to keep the deficit at seven points for Michigan.
The Sooners followed that up with a long drive that ended with
