Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto flirted with a no-hitter through nine innings against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday evening.
His bid at a no-hitter was derailed with the Dodgers needing to record just one more out in the bottom of the ninth with a 3-0 lead.
Jackson Holliday prevented the no-hitter, sending a ball into right field for a home run on a 2-1 count.
It was Yamamoto’s 112th pitch of the game. Yamamoto had 10 strikeouts and walked two.
Pitcher Blake Treinen was brought in to finish out the game for the Dodgers on the mound, but the momentum shifted quickly as Baltimore scored three more runs to take the lead and the 4-3 victory.
