WRENSHALL — An 11-year-old Wrenshall girl died of her injuries when she was struck by a pickup truck while riding her bike on Friday afternoon, Sept. 5.

According to a news release from the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, an off-duty Cloquet Police Department patrol officer discovered the crash scene and called dispatch at 5:10 p.m. The officer began to render aid immediately and coordinate emergency response before other responders continued their efforts.

From investigation, deputies determined that Avery Anderson was riding on Broadway Street when the driver, a 49-year-old man from Summerville, South Carolina, hit her in the roadway. The driver was cooperative throughout the investigation and showed no sign of impairment.
