Birmingham Seaholm improved to 2-0 on Friday night, and a little history was made in the process.

Jim DeWald became the all-time winningest coach in program history with the Maples’ 44-6 win over Avondale.

Arriving from Andover High School, DeWald took charge of Seaholm in 2012 and led the program to back-to-back OAA Blue titles in his first pair of seasons. Friday’s win marked his 75th with the school.

Junior Will Forberg got the party started for the Maples against Avondale with a 79-yard touchdown run, and senior Patrick Hughes nearly equaled it with a 75-yard score less than two minutes later. In addition to a TD pass from Hughes to Keegan Jordan, the Maples also got rushing scores out of Rocco Kulpa, Aaron Van De Mark and Casey Goetz.

Seaholm is now 2-0 and will face Bloomfield Hi
