Norman, Okla. — This was a homecoming for Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and the road debut for freshman starting quarterback Bryce Underwood all on the prime-time stage of the weekend’s only matchup of ranked teams.
It was also a major early season test for the defense facing a skilled dual-threat quarterback with the handicap of not having one of the Wolverines’ top defensive players for the first half because of a targeting call the previous week.
There was plenty stacked against Michigan, which was without starting tight end Marlin Klein, whose right ankle was heavily taped as he limped through pregame warmups, and then lost two starters during the game, one on each side of the ball.
