East Lansing — Saturday night’s skirmish with Boston College was supposed to be Michigan State’s chance to prove how far it’s improved from last season’s painful loss at Chestnut Hill.
It needed more than 60 minutes to show it.
Michigan State fought back from a seven-point halftime deficit in a game that took two overtimes to decide. After trading touchdowns back and forth, the Spartans pulled away for a comeback 42-40 win keyed by a resilient offense and a stalwart defense through the game's final 30 minutes.
Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles scored the tying touchdown on a 3-yard keeper then hit receiver Omari Kelly for the winning two-point conversion. Chiles finished the game with a career-high four touchdown passes and 231 yards on 19-for-29 accuracy.
