On Saturday at 7:30 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated flash flood warning in effect until 10:30 p.m. for Monmouth County.
"At 7:30 p.m., emergency management reported numerous road closures along Ocean Avenue in Long Branch and a car stranded near Route 35 & Clinton Ave in Eatontown due to flooding as the result of thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring," says the weather service. "Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low-lying areas."
