CHARLES TOWN — A rezoning request for Four Seas property located along Leetown Road and Charles Town Road in Kearneysville was brought before the Jefferson County Commission during its regular meeting on Sept 4. Applicant Brett Cochran asked for the 51-acre property to be rezoned from rural to residential/light-industrial/commercial (RLIC).
When the request was brought to the Jefferson County Planning Commission, that group found that the request was inconsistent with the 2045 Comprehensive Plan. According to the report, the comprehensive plan does not support zoning map amendments to RLIC and instead recommends alternate zoning districts. Chief County Planner Luke Seigfried explained this further during the meeting.
