EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Family and community members gathered to remember a much-loved child after a devastating tragedy.
Loved ones of 14-year-old Jayvion’tae “Jojo” Cox held a candle-light vigil and released balloons in memory of the teenager who lost his life in a tragic shooting this week.
We first told you about the incident on Thursday.
Officials say they were called to the 800 block of East Cherry Street around 3:45 p.m.
They say through the investigation it was learned Cox was shot accidentally by another juvenile, who thought the gun was unloaded.
That juvenile was arrested for reckless homicide and dangerous possession of a firearm and remains in custody.
