HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hurricane Kiko is expected to near Hawaii in the middle of next week, emergency officials say now is the time to get ready.
“Preparedness is always going to be the answer for this,” said Matthew Wells, American Red Cross Pacific Islands Region communications director.
If you have not done so, you could start getting supplies. Wells recommended having two weeks worth of food and water, as well as other necessities.
Additionally, Wells pointed out the sooner you gather what you need, the better, because resources can run out.
“We are so very isolated out here that it has a great level of importance,” Wells said. “Those items that might need to be sent to us in case of a genuine impact or real emergency, they’re not going to be immediately on hand.”
