Acutis, who died in 2006 from leukemia, is known as “God’s Influencer” for using technology to spread the Catholic faith. Sunday's canonization ceremony will be Pope Leo XIV’s first. Acutis was born in London in 1991 and moved to Milan with his family. He was deeply religious, attending Mass daily and teaching catechism. He created a website documenting Eucharistic miracles. Acutis was named “venerable” in 2018 and “blessed” in 2020. His sainthood is supported by two miracles attributed to his intercession.
