EastEnders is set to air a dramatic week for Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) sparking a temporary exit alongside his best pal Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

A new dawn kicks off in Walford on Monday (September 8) when tragic news is revealed as Nigel and his wife Julie (Karen Henthorn) discover their three pet chickens have been killed by foxes.

It soon transpires that devastated Nigel is to blame for their chicken's death , and an argument soon ensues about their loss.

Nigel, who is suffering from the onset of dementia, will soon become distressed by his lack of memory. However, he starts to grow suspicious of Julie's mystery phone calls.
