Bristol man dies after thirty years of exposure to chemicals

A 78-year-old man from Bristol died following three decades of breathing in chemicals at his workplace, an inquest heard. Martin Thorne died from bladder cancer at St Peter's Hospice in Bristol in May this year.

At a inquest held at Avon Coroners' Court , the court heard that Martin had been exposed to chemicals from the age of fifteen. HMRC confirmed that Martin started work at the Bristol Corporation in the 1960s, where he remained for 30 years as a print setter for the Bristol Evening Post.

Martin was diagnosed with cancer at 64. Dr Ben Daly told the court "I cannot think of a more likely explanation" for his cancer diagnosis than the exposure to chemicals.
