*Roman Anthony, it turns out, is not going to carry the Red Sox on his back this month. His oblique strain means he won’t play again during the season and, in fact, isn’t guaranteed to contribute in the postseason, either. We shall see.
In the meantime, the Red Sox have some games to win, with no help from Anthony. And while it’s been undeniably true that Anthony had been the team’s MVP from July 1 through Tuesday’s unfortunate injury, it’s now time for others to do their part.
