Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse has had two games of sloppy football to put on tape. Two weeks of lackluster pass protection, troubles stopping the run and scoreless first quarters.

In those two weeks, though, it’s become evident that tight end Dan Villari and wide receiver Justus Ross-Simmons have gained the trust of quarterback Steve Angeli.

Villari was Angeli’s safety blanket against Tennessee and Ross-Simmons made pivotal plays to keep the Orange in the game. They followed that up with Villari being Syracuse’s leading receiver against UConn and Ross-Simmons scoring the two most important touchdowns of the afternoon.
