HONOLULU (Island News) -- The Hawaiian Islands remain under the influence of a stable weather pattern today, thanks to an upper ridge over the state. This will bring continued warm and mostly dry summer conditions, though some passing showers are expected for windward and mountain areas, especially on the Big Island and East Maui. These showers are being driven by low clouds moving in from the east and should taper off later in the day.
Winds will stay on the lighter side, allowing local sea breezes to develop during the day and land breezes at night. This pattern will keep the islands relatively dry for now, with only brief rainfall along windward slopes.
Looking ahead, a weather trough to the north is expected to move in over the weekend. This will begin to break down the current ridge
