EastEnders viewers believe they've figured out how Jamie Borthwick's departure will be incorporated into the programme - and it's heartbreaking.

Jamie initially joined the enduring show back in 2006, taking on the role of Jay Brown. Throughout the years, it's reasonable to say he has been involved in numerous major plotlines.

From losing his parents at 14 to the tragic passing of his cherished wife Lola (Danielle Harold), his stint in Walford has been filled with turmoil. This week however, it was announced that actor Jamie had been dropped from the programme after nearly two decades, reports OK! .

BBC Studios, which produces the show, confirmed to the Mirror: "We can confirm that Jamie Borthwick will not be returning to EastEnders. We do not comment on individual matters."
