PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is fighting for his life after police say a shooting broke out in a south Phoenix neighborhood Saturday evening.

According to Phoenix police, officers were called out to the area of 5th Street and Weir Avenue, just south of Broadway Road on reports of a shooting around 7:15 p.m.

Officers arrived to find a man with life-threatening injuries. As of Sunday morning, his current condition is unknown.

Detectives sectioned off the area as part of the investigation as authorities worked to piece together what led up to the shooting.

Additional details are expected to be released on Sunday.
