LANSING, MI -- A player in Missouri and a player in Texas have won the second largest lottery prize in U.S. history. The players each matched all five white balls and the Powerball in the Powerball drawing held on Sept. 6, to win the $1.78 billion jackpot.
The winners now have the choice of receiving their prize as an annuitized prize of $893.5 million or a lump sum payment of $410.3 million.
There had been 41 consecutive drawings without a winner, leading to Saturday’s tremendous grand prize. The jackpot for the drawing on Monday, Sept. 8 will be worth $20 million.
