For the Grand Junction High School boys tennis team, the season was going to start like a normal season. Everyone knew their role from the No. 1 singles to the No .4 doubles teams, however weeks before the season that normal turned into a scramble.

Last year’s No. 1 and No. 2 singles players moved and left the school creating some chaos, but also some opportunities.

This weekend at the 2025 Western Slope Invitational the boys sure didn’t look a team that had so many changes. All three singles players Elijah Wright at No. 1, junior Jacob Smith at No. 2 and sophomore Grant Gear at No. 3 showed they are ready for the challenge.

Each player played competitive matches in their new respective roles. Coach Carol Wilder has been impressed by the three players.
