Parents are growing increasingly anxious as potential job action by Alberta’s teachers looms over a breakdown in contract negotiations with the province.

The government said late Friday that it’s ready to return to the table after talks with the Alberta Teachers’ Association broke off last week. But as students ready for their first full week of classes, the two sides remain at an impasse, with no new discussions planned.
