September is prostate cancer awareness month. According to the American Cancer Society, the disease sees over 300,000 new cases annually as well as over 35,000 deaths a year, making it crucial for men to undergo a prostate exam.

On the KCRA 3 news at noon on Friday, Gary Dumas joined us to raise awareness. Dumas is a health advocate whose mission is to help spread awareness to men since he had to have prostate surgery.

Here are some symptoms of prostate problems

Urinary Symptoms:

Frequent urination, especially at night

Difficulty starting or stopping urination

Weak or dribbling urine stream

Pain or burning during urination

Blood in the urine

Other Symptoms:

Pain in the lower back, pelvis, or groin

Painful ejaculation

Erectile dysfunction

Fatigue

Weight loss
