Three young women were injured after an SUV mounted the pavement and smashed into pedestrians walking next to a popular beach in Ibiza.

One tourist was reportedly killed as the Jeep Wrangler left the road and struck them before knocking over a lampost and smashing into a restaurant at 11.15am opposite Pouet beach.

One of them is now said to have died in hospital from her injuries, according to Diario de Ibiza.

A 23-year-old British woman injured was taken to an A&E unit at Ibiza’s main state hospital Can Misses where she is said to be ‘stable and conscious.’

The nationalities of the other two women have yet to be made public.

The driver failed a drugs test at the scene, police said. He is suspected of consuming nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas, moments before the accident.
