A new Belleville parking study years in the making is now complete and suggests several changes be made regarding how the city monitors and enforces motorists’ behavior in the city core.

Changes before city council include a modernization of the parking system in Downtown Belleville following a comprehensive review which has already increased fines for illegal parking approved in February 2024.

One of the primary drivers for the changes is to ensure municipal parking enforcement and maintenance is not tax funded and costs are paid down through a user-pay system.

The city embarked on a public survey in Aril 2024 to gather input needed for a more fulsome parking review and study.
