The Jacksonville Jaguars-Carolina Panthers Week 1 game has been suspended.

During the second quarter of the season opener, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that the game had to be delayed because of “severe weather in the area.” The EverBank Stadium posted a notice for fans to move to protected areas:

Before the game was suspended, the Jaguars took a lead with Trevor Lawrence’s six-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Long.

The delay comes three days after the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles Week 1 opener endured a 65-minute delay because of lightning in the area. The defending Super Bowl champions went on to win that game 24-20.

Though the Jaguars and Panthers were two of the NFL’s worst teams last season, there was extra hype around this contest because of Travis Hunter’s NFL debut. Th
