The average reader has read their favourite book six times and believes they will read it another seven times during their lifetime.
That’s according to new research from a survey of 2,000 American readers. The survey included an equal number of respondents from each generation and examined the science of book nostalgia while uncovering trends and habits tied to “nostalgic reading” — the practice of reading a book to evoke a particular sense of coziness and sentimentality.
Per the New York Post , the study found that the top reasons people re-read their favourite book are to immerse themselves in the book’s unique setting (36%) and to visit with their favourite characters again (35%).
