Tens of thousands of people travel to Blackpool Illuminations each year - with many travelling from across the North West and further afield to see the iconic lights.

This year saw pop sensation Olly Murs turn on the lights at a star-studded switch on event in late August.

The Illuminations this season are set to run until January 26 but one driver found their trip to the Lancashire town instead end up in a journey to police custody on Saturday.

Lancashire Roads Policing Unit pulled the vehicle over as it headed towards the seafront on Saturday night. Checks showed the driver was not insured and the was displaying cloned licence plates, LancashireLive reports.
