Plans for a £35 million town centre development, including homes, shops and “evening attractions” are set to be submitted next month.

A consultation is open on plans to regenerate the former Co-op between Spital Street and Hythe Street in Dartford .

Dartford council acquired the land “on behalf of the public” and says its ambition is to create “a high-quality, mixed-use neighbourhood that serves local people and enriches Dartford’s town centre”.

The development includes the construction of 69 homes, with the first 25 to be delivered within two years of planning approval.

Of these, 30% will have private gardens and 20% will be affordable housing, either rented or shared ownership.

It says the homes will be for people of all ages and that priority will be given to buyers in the Dartfo
