SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane drivers should prepare for major traffic delays on southbound Ash Street this week as construction crews reduce three lanes to one for stormwater system improvements.

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 9, southbound lanes on Ash Street will merge from three lanes to one lane between Augusta Avenue and Maxwell Avenue through Friday, Sept. 12. The lane reduction will likely create congestion on eastbound Northwest Boulevard and southbound Ash Street.

The work is part of the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project.

City officials recommend using alternate routes including Government Way, Monroe Street, Washington Street or Division Street during peak traffic times between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
