Florida’s plan to end some school vaccine mandates won’t take effect for 90 days and initially covers only chickenpox and few other diseases.

Major vaccines including measles, polio and mumps remain required unless state lawmakers decide to expand the policy in future legislation.

The move comes amid the worst measles outbreak in three decades, with more than 1,400 cases nationwide and rising whooping cough infections.
