CHICAGO - A little more than 24 hours after President Donald Trump posted an ominous meme aimed at the city of Chicago on his social media platform, he appears to be softening his tone.

The backstory:

On Saturday, Trump shared an image from the film Apocalypse Now to his Truth Social account with a caption reading: "Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR." The post referenced his recent announcement that he had unilaterally changed the name of the Department of Defense .
