BELFAST, Maine (WABI) - Rain didn’t stop Belfast from celebrating man’s shortest friend.

Wienerfest is an annual festival celebrating the dachshund, also known as the wiener dog.

The event featured a parade around Steamboat Landing Park, a canine costume contest, and plenty of vendors to keep guests entertained.

This all culminated in the Doxie Derby, where the dogs raced to see whose little legs could go the fastest.

In the end, Moose was crowned victorious.

His owner, Renee Ferrazzuolo, expressed joy in seeing the canine community come together.

“It’s really great just seeing all the other dogs from the area and the other states, like I love dachshunds and so it’s so much fun just to see them all and meet the owners, and just see the different coats, and just getting to see all the
