Six one-room school houses highlighted on historic tour
Six one-room school houses opened their doors to children and adults alike on Saturday, Sept. 6, for the Butler County Historical Society’s first Schoolhouse Driving Tour.
The self-guided tour offered people a glimpse into the physical location of each of the participating school houses, and a look into the different aspects of education and life at the time that each school would have been open.
The Thompson School House on W. Liberty Road in Brady Township, for example, had information all about recess and recreation of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
