VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) – Evergreen Public Schools on Sunday announced there would be no classes on Monday Sept. 8, as PSE union members continued to strike.

The strike began Tuesday, Aug. 26 on the district’s first scheduled day of school for the year. This week will mark the third week of the strike.

Almost 1,400 school employees are represented by the union, including teachers, bus drivers, and support staff.

During the stoppage, school buildings are closed, according to the district.

Meals have still been available to students during the strike. Some child care, sports practices, and events have also continued.

On Friday, the Evergreen Public Schools Board of Directors voted unanimously to pass a resolution allowing legal action against the striking workers.
