DETROIT — Will Robertson saw the ball in the air and thought, “just make a play.”
The Chicago White Sox left fielder sprinted near the corner, tracking Spencer Torkelson’s long fly ball.
“Off the bat, I honestly thought it was foul,” Robertson said. “But with the wind, you have to go for it. As I was running, I was like, ‘Oh, this is coming back,’ and then make a play.”
Robertson timed his leap perfectly, extended his glove over the wall and made a tremendous catch for the first out of the sixth inning.
“Looking back you’re like, ‘Oh, wow, that’s probably the highest I’ve ever jumped before in my life,'” he said.
Robertson aided the Sox offensively in the seventh inning with a game-tying RBI single. Lenyn Sosa drove in two with a single in the eighth to give the Sox the lead in a 6-
