NEWBURGH, Ind. — The shelter-in-place advisory issued for a southern Indiana county following a Saturday afternoon chemical fire has been lifted, but now officials are investigating the environmental and community impact.
According to a release from the Ohio Township Fire Department , around 2:40 p.m. on Sept. 6, firefighters were called to a structure fire at PBTT Corp. located at 5622 Vann Road , just northeast of the town of Newburgh in Warrick County.
Firefighters say the first engine to arrive at the scene found an "approximately 100’ X 100’ exterior fire" involving "numerous" hazardous materials. Crews then confirmed all employees had evacuated the building and that no injuries were reported.
