For the first time ever, the MTV Music Video Awards were broadcast on CBS, following the opening Sunday slate of NFL games. Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin and Busta Rhymes were all honored during the broadcast on Sunday night, which was hosted by the iconic rapper and actor LL Cool J.
Pop icons like Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Sabrina Carpenter — whose recent release Man's Best Friend went to No. 1 on Billboard — were in attendance for the awards show. There was a question as to whether singer-songwriter Taylor Swift would be there on Sunday night, especially as she has her next album — The Life Of A Showgirl — releasing on October 3. Swift has been a mainstay at the MTV award show since 2009, including announcing her Midnights album in 2022.
So was the 14-time Grammy winner in attendance at the VMAs on Sunday night?
No, Swift wasn't in New York City for the VMAs, even though the singer was nominated for Artist of the Year against Beyoncé, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Morgan Wallen and Lady Gaga (who won the award). Don't fret though, Swifties. The recently-engaged star will likely be in attendance next Sunday in Kanas City to support her fiancé Travis Kelce for his Chiefs home opener.
