WEST JORDAN, Utah — Hundreds of Utahns gathered in West Jordan on Saturday to take part in the 19th annual Out of the Darkness Walk.
The event invites people to Veterans Memorial Park to come together in support of mental health and suicide prevention.
According to the event organizers, Utah struggles in those areas. According to the state’s public health data resource , Utah ranks seventh in the nation for the highest rate of suicide.
More than 100 Ken Garff employees joined the walkers on Saturday. The company provides free mental health therapy for all their employees and family members in need according to Dana Geddes, Sr. Director of Employee Experience at Ken Garff. Similar resources were made available during the walk.
