PHOENIX -- The big hit that had been elusive the entire weekend for the Red Sox came from an unexpected source.

Nick Sogard stepped up as a pinch-hitter for Connor Wong and hammered a two-run double to left-center with two outs in the top of the ninth to snap a tie and lead Boston to a 7-4 victory over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Just like that, manager Alex Cora’s squad salvaged the finale of a mostly frustrating three-game set at Chase Field and snapped a three-game losing streak that started the day star rookie Roman Anthony was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
