NEWMAN LAKE, Wash. – Two crews from Newman Lake Fire have joined Spokane County resources to form a strike team battling the Lower Sugarloaf Fire north of Leavenworth.
The officers and volunteers are prepared for a deployment of up to two weeks, Newman Lake Fire said in a release.
This summer, District 13 crews have been actively fighting fires across Eastern Washington.
While deployed, firefighters are compensated by the state and the fire district will be reimbursed for the use of their brush trucks.
