Nottingham's oldest charity is leaving its historic home - but it is set to play a huge part in the city's future as it could move to the new Broad Marsh development.

Founded in 1837 as an educational facility for mechanics in Nottingham's lace factories and cotton mills, the Nottingham Mechanic Institute (NMI) continues to teach valuable skills to primarily elderly women across the city.

With a total of 160 members today, the historic charity has previously hosted figures including Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde and Madame Tussaud.
