CARLISLE, Iowa —

Residents of the Carlisle Community School District will vote this week on renewing the district's Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, which provided more than $650,000 in the last fiscal year and requires voter approval every 10 years.

Erik Anderson, the district's superintendent, wants voters to understand the significance of the levy in Tuesday's special election.

"This is an investment in the infrastructure of the district. We absolutely we're here to educate students, but there's also buildings, there's safety involved, and there's transportation. There's playground equipment, there's musical instruments. All those pieces play a role within the education," Anderson said.
