Two prospectors have struck gold, pocketing a nugget estimated to be worth $160,000.

Amalgamated Prospectors and Leaseholders Association State president James Allison told the Kalgoorlie Miner about the men he was acquainted with at Sandstone — a town about 400km north-west of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

He said the men, who had chosen to remain anonymous, were prospecting near the town when their detector went off.
