ON Sunday the VMAs were brutally slammed for being 'the worst ever' by viewers who were quick to flock to social media to rant.

It is one of the biggest nights of the year for the music industry and for this year's ceremony the likes of Sabrina Carpenter , Ariana Grande and Ashlee Simpson took to the star-studded red carpet .

Gongs were given to the likes of Mariah Carey , Lady Gaga and Megan Moroney , with iconic performances and famous hosts also gracing the stage.

But despite the many stand-out moments from the night, fans are sure it was "the worst ever" VMA ceremony.

Taking to X, several fans fumed over the "awful" show and ceremony.
