The VMAs are not airing where you might expect this year.
For the first time since they began airing in 1984, the MTV Video Music Awards will air primarily on CBS, starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sep. 7 . (They will also be on MTV, though. Don’t worry.)
You can watch it live as it airs on Paramount Plus (only $30 for one year) or DIRECTV (free trial) or Fubo TV (free trial) .

This year, the ceremony will be hosted by rapper LL Cool J, while Ricky Martin will be presented with the Latin Icon Award, Busta Rhymes will receive the Rock the Bells Visionary Award, and Mariah Carey will be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vangu
