Sunday was the start of National Waffle Week, a time to celebrate the honeycomb cake baked between irons, and today is dressed up with toppings from sweet to sour to savory.

The designation was started in 2001 by Waffle House, and since then, many restaurants have joined the celebration by offering special deals on waffles.
