Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday urged other countries to sever commercial and diplomatic ties with Israel, calling it the most hated and the most isolated government in the world.

"Muslim nations in particular, should completely cut their economic ties with the Zionist regime, and they should even sever their diplomatic ties. They must isolate Israel even more," Khamenei said during a meeting with top government officials.

Khamenei has been calling for Israel's isolation after its war against Hamas started in 2023, but the comments mark the first time he repeats the call after a 12-day war with Israel.

Israel launched attacks against Iran in June, killing its top military commanders and nuclear sites.

The U.S. later joined Israel in bombing Iran's nuclear sites.

Iran retaliated by firing missiles and drones against Israel.

Iran says over 1,000 were killed during the war.
